What are prototypes?
A prototype is a graphical model of your digital product. It is used to test and refine design and functionality before actual technical development begins. After the structure is defined and organised in a low-fidelity prototype (wireframe), the interactions on your website or in your application can be simulated in a high-fidelity prototype (mock-up). This allows the user interface to be tested at an early stage to see how well it meets users’ requirements. Developing prototypes and gathering user feedback enables problems to be spotted early and remedied iteratively. An optimal user interface can then be devised for your product.
How is prototyping done?
Start of development
Creation of prototypes
Feedback and sign-off on the prototypes
Benefits of prototyping
Generate intuitive ideas
Test different devices
Get feedback at an early stage
Test before development
When is prototyping useful?
Prototyping enables you to obtain feedback from potential users and identify problems at an early stage before you invest significant resources in development. Prototyping can also help speed up the development process, as it enables you to try out and optimise various approaches early on.
